Vibration, WBV, and HAV

Vibration exposure assessment matters because prolonged exposure to vibration can cause whole-body vibration (WBV) and hand-arm vibration (HAV) injuries. These are often identified only once the damage is already difficult or impossible to reverse, which makes it vital to minimise harm to employees and identify symptoms as early as possible.

Our Vibration Exposure Assessment Service Includes

  • Identifying sources of vibration that could cause WBV or HAV
  • Assessing how the task, environment, equipment or vehicle, individual susceptibility, and use of vibration source data can be used to reduce harm from vibration
  • Assessing individual vibration exposure using vibration exposure calculation software
  • Identifying control measures to reduce risk from WBV and HAV
  • Recommending safe systems of work for maximum efficiency
  • Monitoring that safe systems of work are followed through

Vibration exposure assessment is one part of a complete risk assessment approach, applying the same hierarchy of controls we follow for every hazard category.
